The game of Tetris originated from Russia. It was invented long ago, before the invention of computers. Alexey Pajitnov (Pazhitnov) was the original author of Tetris. He was aided by Vadim Gerasimov and Dmitry Pavlovsky. Pajitnov and Pavlovsky worked at Computer Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences as computer engineers. The sport of Tetris took it's origin from Pajitnov earlier invention known as Genetic Engineering. Vadim Gerosimov was the one that ported the sport to the IBM PC.

The original game was made up of five square blocks. It was called Pentomino; penta meaning five. Afterwards, the game was turned into “penta” and to” tetri.” The figures became simple. The game was also revised to be time pressuring, so it is a mix of puzzle genre plus an arcade. This revision made the game of Tetris more captivating and much more popular. It began to multiply throughout Moscow until it reached other countries, and today the whole world. It was acknowledged in USA and England to become the best-selling video game in the past year 1988.

The game became the reason for competitive activity among several publishing companies. Intense popularity helps make the game more desirable to the big companies. Numerous companies would like to get your hands on the rights to produce Tetris for handhelds and console. The sport of Tetris was initially sold to Famicom. Two million cartridges of it were sold. Afterwards, Nintendo also sell several million copies for NES. Game Boy full of Tetris, on the other hand, was sold all over the world, making the game of Tetris increasingly popular.

More and more changes took place to improve the game. They want to make the game simpler yet challenging for the people. The significant change is made using the number of squares. Figures from squares to triangles and hexagons was changed and finalized. Around 2000, the sport became complex. It was not just the form of the figures was changed but the whole game itself. It became more challenging for the player. The sport is made with music for that players to find it more enjoy and captivating. Now, more websites are offering downloads for this game of Tetris.

The players/ users play the game by turning the pieces of squares/ figures right or left to be able to arrange it to suit the figures below. Whenever a type of figures/ squares are formed to the edge, the line dissolves and also the line of squares move below by one square. As soon as the line on the edge dissolves, points are gained. When the well is chock-full, the sport ends. Players are given ample minutes to gain points and keep the well empty or less filled. But, it is not easy to keep the well that way because when the sport advances, the falling pieces fall faster and faster.
