A Communication degree will not lose its value despite the fast-paced growth of technology and the kind of sci-fi-like technological advantages arising. Until the time comes when special machines are created to think and write like people, there is no way that a Communication degree, or a masters in communication at that, will lose its value even as technology continuous to improve.
Jobs as telephone switchboard operators are now being removed because of technology. The thing about telephone switchboard operators is that they were the ones who placed outgoing calls from the United States and most Americans actually loved hearing their voices. That was high-tech then.
There are no more telephone switchboard operators because there are no more switchboards to operate. Ever since then, telephony has developed to the point that wires are also obsolete. Before, calling was an activity for the ears but now, it is something for the eyes as well.
Nowadays, even ticket booth operators have been kicked out due to tech evolution. Nowadays, a ride on the train means that you will get a ticket from an automated dispenser and this makes commuting simpler and much faster too. Even people who work for banks are in trouble as there are more and more ATMs that are being used today.
Bank tellers might become obsolete too thanks to something called online banking. Who could have thought one could make deposits, withdraws and money transfers while slouching safely on a sofa at home? Nowadays, since people can complete their banking activities at home, safety is one of the things that they enjoy.
Technology is also something that might drive out libraries. Who still goes to the library these days? Nowadays, people can get all of the different resources that they need from books to images to films from the Internet and a click is all it takes to do so.
Since businesses have to choose between technology and their workers, most workers have been removed from jobs that could be run by machines. Several years ago, a team of clerks was needed if a company wanted databases made and things computed and documents filed as one clerk cannot fulfill all of these jobs. These days, one computer can do all of these separate tasks.
With the ongoing tech evolution, those engaged in printing are working to secure the industry. Printing companies are no longer needed if someone needed a printed copy of something as printers and software are readily available. Although more and more people are starting to purchase e books, there is a chance that books will remain strong.
As experts say, jobs that do not require much thinking are the kinds of jobs that can be jeopardized by something like technology. Jobs from bank teller work to operating jobs are slowly being replaced by technology. Different kinds of employment options are being created by technology from computer tech work to broadband related jobs to gaming work and so on even if the same technology is to blame for the loss of other forms of employment.
Even as technology continues to improve, people who are employed as writers and in other forms of communication will be secure in their jobs. Different kinds of media can be used to make communications pieces that a lot of businesses require when it comes to their market offerings. Technology is not something that will affect the demand for work that involves the transfer of knowledge as experts believe.
